2004-2005
Ready made Garments Training
Sophie Jan Kalyan Samiti, 14/80, Civil Lines, Kanpur organized 3
months Training Camp ( from 1.4.05 to 1.8.05 ) to impart
training of making Readymade Garments through modern technology
,to women for making them economically self dependent. In this
training the selection of beneficiaries was made as per
Govt.standards in which mainly Scheduled tribes, backward
classes ,general classes were included. During this camp 25
women were advised to work as per “Self Help Group” and free
training material was given to them. After completion of the
training, Society gave training certificates to the
beneficiaries in a simple function.
Environment Camp
Sophie Jan Kalyan Samiti organized a 11 days Environment Camp
from 1.7.2005 to 11.7.2005 to maintain a balance in the
environment. Camp was organized in Avas Vikas area of Giyavir
Naubasta. The people in this area were inspired to be aware of
environment and people participated in camp with full enthusiasm
. 300 plants were planted in Avas Vikas area. Plants were
supplied free by the Society and the responsibility of the
safety of each plant was given to each one resident of the area.
This camp created a good impression on the residents of this
area.
Health Camp
Sophie Jan Kalyan Samiti organized a 3 days Health Camp in slum
area of Sant Ravidas Nagar, Kanpur from 8.7.05 to 10.7.05 in
which free medicines were supplied amongst the poor residents of
scheduled tribes of this area.
Dr.Anil Katiyar and Surgeon Raju Kedia gave their free services
in this camp. Most of the patients were suffering from skin
diseases, who were given advice to keep themselves neat and
clean. Free medicines were distributed in the camp. Many women
were found suffering from Anemia, Asthma ,and Nyctalopia .
Awareness Camp
Sophie Jan Kalyan Samiti organized an Awareness Camp in the slum
area of Ram Asre Nagar from 4.12.05 to 7.12.05 in which women
present there were told about their rights. Especially poor,
widow and scheduled tribe women of this area participated in
this camp. Widows were told about Widow Pension Scheme and old
people were made aware of the help which they can get from the
Govt.of India. About 20-25 families were benefited in this camp.
Intoxication Eradication Camp
Intoxication Eradication Camp was organized by Sophie Jan Kalyan
Samiti 14/80, Civil Lines, Kanpur in Chamanganj on 8.1.2006
under the supervision of local social worker Sri Anis Ahmad. In
this camp , being inspired by the local respected persons, 55-60
intoxicating youths were tested and given free medicines after
their medical check up . Society also gave information to the
people attending the camp , how they will be given remuneration
/ prize on inspiring the persons, present in the camp, to keep
away from intoxication. However it was guessed in this camp that
most of the intoxicating people are living in Muslim majority
areas and they are going on a disastrous path due to lack of
awareness / education. Society is making efforts to organize
another camp in this area.
Disabled Camp
Sophie Jan Kalyan Samiti, Kanpur organized a Disabled Camp on
18.2.2006 in Shyam Nagar at the residence of Sri Ram Asre
Vishwakarma, in which reputed people of the area and about 40
disabled persons participated. Dr.Anil Katiyar examined these
disabled persons in which 6 of them were found deserving, who
were not able to move because their feet got skew. Free Crutches
were given to 3 of them . Attending people very much appreciated
this social service.
Awareness Camp
Sophie Jan Kalyan Samiti organized an Women Awareness Camp in
the slum area of Ram Asre Nagar on 16.4.2006 in which women
participated with full enthusiasm. In this camp specialists
guided the attending women about the women rights. Old women
were told how they can get the facilities given by Govt.of
India/ state Govt. as a senior citizen.
Health Camp
Sophie Jan Kalyan Samiti organized a Health Camp in the slum
area of Param Purwa on 10.6.2006 under the supervision of Dr.
Anil Katiyar in which a good number of benificiary patients
participated. Most of the patients in this camp were found
suffering from skin diseases, cough, fever and cancer. Cancer
patients were referred to Cancer Hospital and the residents of
slum area were inspired to be careful about the sanitation and
their cleanliness.
Environment Camp
An Environment Camp was organized on 1.8.2006 in Sanjay Van of
Kanpur under National Environment Awareness Movement , in which
residents of the area participated with enthusiasm. Specialist
Sri Om Prakash Dubey gave the information about environment to
the attending people. They were suggested to stop the water
logging in their neighbourhood.

50 plants on behalf of the Society and the cooperation of the
forest department persons in this camp was appreciable. People
of the area were given the responsibility to water and keep
safety of one plant each.
Cancer Awareness / Treatment Camp
Under the aegis of Sophie Jan Kalyan Samiti a Cancer Awareness /
Treatment Camp was organized on 1.11.2006 in the slum area of
Usmanpur in the direction of cancer specialist Dr.Dinesh Sachan
, in which people of the area participated with enthusiasm.
Dr.Dinesh Sachan and Dr.Anil Katiyar examined about 40 patients
in which symptoms of mouth cancer were found in 15 patients, and
symptoms of breast cancer in 3 patients. Society provided free
Consultation and free medicines for the treatment.
Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization
Under National programme of intensive Pulse Polio Immunization
Sophie Jan Kalyan Samiti arranged for feeding polio drops to
children in so many slum areas. Society organized a Rally and a
meeting for the awareness. Due to lack of awareness the people
in Muslim areas did not want their children to take polio drops
under the illusion that after taking polio drops their children
will fall ill and it will make them impotent. Society tried to
wipe out this illusion.
